Master-Slave

The master : Masters have total control over the life of their slave/partner. This also means that they take on all the responsibilities that come with this kind of relationship. Masters are a step above dominants because their position of power is present 24/7 and in all aspects of their lives, with negotiated exceptions; such as when working in an office. The main objective of masters is to create a stable and safe environment for their slave, to allow for optimal servitude.

The slave : Slaves place all the control and responsibility of their lives in the hands of their master. They are a step above submissives because their powerlessness is present 24/7 and in all aspects of their lives, except, as stated above, for negotiated exceptions. Serving their master is the primary objective in the lives of slaves and they rarely impose limits on their servitude. 

Generally, master/slave relationships start with a contract, signed by both parties, in which the rules are established such as accepted practices, safeword, etc.
